In addition to the speaker, anyone else in the room may appear on the screens during the public session, so look attentive. Okay, we're on. Well, as we say in Ireland, céad míle fáilte, a welcome, welcome to the viewers joining us now for the adoption of our legislative A item, which is included in document 11207/24. For the item we will adopt, the results of the votes will be displayed on the screens in this room and on the internet via the video streaming page of the Council, and possible statements will be entered into the minutes of this meeting. We will proceed to the adoption of the Council regulation on access of EPPO and OLAF to VAT information at EU level.
This regulation will strengthen the cooperation between the European Public Prosecutor's Office, the European Anti-Fraud Office, and Member States. This will be of key importance to step up the fight against VAT and against customs fraud. The Council reached a general approach on the regulation in May. In the meantime, the European Parliament has issued its opinion on the regulation and the text has been finalized by our lawyer-linguists. The Council should now be in a position to adopt the legislative text set out in document 8887/24, and the results of the vote are now displayed.
I note that the required unanimity has been reached with all delegations voting in favor, and the regulation is consequently adopted. So I conclude that legislative A item set out in document 11207/24 has now been adopted. We will now, colleagues, turn to the next item on our agenda, which is the presentation of our Presidency's work program in the field of economic and financial affairs, and we continue in public session. I have a few brief slides, if I can have the first slide on the screen. And the next slide, please.
For the next six months, Ireland looks forward to playing a central role together with our European partners in taking forward the ambitions of the European Union. We do so at a time when the EU faces significant challenges amid a geopolitical landscape that has truly been transformed. We now need to pay heed to how Europe can both defend and promote our competitiveness, our security, and our values, and these are the three pillars that will define our Presidency priorities. Under each, we've set out clear plans and ambitions for the next six months. As a small open economy, it's in Ireland's DNA to build bridges, to seek consensus in order to make progress, and that's why the motto of our Presidency is "Strength with Unity".
