I would like to remind you again that from this point onwards, the meeting will be in public. As I can see, the Secretariat has confirmed that the cameras are activated. So, to begin the council's work, we would first be briefed on equality issues under any other business. I am pleased to welcome Ms. Hajar Labib, Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness, and Crisis Management.

She will inform us about two important strategies concerning gender equality and combating racism. We look forward to hearing the Commission's update on future actions, combating racism, and promoting gender equality over the next five years. The presidency gives particular importance to both of these issues. The equal treatment of all citizens is a fundamental value of the European Union. Combating discrimination is a common challenge that concerns all of us.
