Thank you very much, Madam Chair. I beg to move that this House has considered the potential merits of reform of the vascular sector. It's a pleasure to be under your chairmanship, Madam Chair. Last night you were in doing the adjournment debate. Today you're chairing in Westminster Hall.

Your talents, Madam Chair, are incredible. Well done to you and we appreciate all the efforts that you make for us in this House in all lines. It's a real pleasure as well to introduce this debate. It's something I'm particularly interested in. And we have a number of people in the audience today in the gallery, the people with much more medical talent than I have.

I'm interested in the subject. These people in the audience today, Madam Chair, are some of those who carry out some of the operations and who have a deep interest. I want to pay a special thanks if I can to Roger Greer, who is the admin for the APPG for vascular health and venous health that I'm involved with and chair of that and declare that interest because that gentleman and others with him make the effort to make this a subject matter that I'm interested in. I've had the opportunity back home to visit the Royal Victoria Hospital where vascular health unfortunately, and I will mention some of the stats for Northern Ireland, and they are worrying, Madam Chair. And I think that will illustrate, I suspect, where we are in Northern Ireland, but I think what's happening in Northern Ireland is probably mirrored here in the mainland as well.
