Ukrainian drone motor maker Astravidya secures investment

Astravidya, a Ukrainian manufacturer of brushless DC (BLDC) motors for unmanned platforms and ground robotics, has secured an investment from Czech industrial defence group S-Tech Ventures, the company told Defender Media. The parties did not disclose the terms of the deal. Astravidya plans to use the funding to launch a new production line with a capacity of up to 50,000 motors per month, expand its R&D centre, and grow its engineering team. The company says it has already reached agreements with five major customers prepared to purchase a combined 50,000 motors per month. Astravidya says the entire output of the new production line will be allocated to Ukrainian manufacturers of UAVs and UGVs. The company plans to supply European customers only after Ukrainian legislation permits defence tech exports. In the longer term, S-Tech intends to establish a second Astravidya production line within the European Union. Astravidya is a certified member of Brave1, Ukraine’s state-backed defence tech cluster. According to the company, Brave1 played a role in attracting investment to the project. Astravidya designs and manufactures BLDC motors with a localisation level above 70%. The company operates its own machining and stator-winding processes and remains independent of Chinese component supply chains. Astravidya also says its engineering team designs and upgrades production equipment in-house. “We control the entire technological cycle — from the machines that build our motors to the finished product,” said Astravidya’s CEO, who asked not to be named. S-Tech Ventures CEO Anna Růžičková said Astravidya represents the type of Ukrainian engineering Europe needs: real manufacturing, genuine intellectual property, and independence from Chinese supply chains. “Our role is to provide these capabilities with a strong industrial foundation, integrate them into EU industrial structures, and connect Ukrainian manufacturing to European supply chains where Ukrainian partners participate as equals,” she said. S-Tech Ventures’ portfolio already includes several defence projects, including Cyber Drone Solutions (unmanned platforms), Noontide Systems (defence AI and computer vision), and Componentas (component manufacturing in the EU).
