President urged to nationalise Fire Point: what is known

Copied! Fire Point has responded to its mention in the “Mindich tapes” published by Ukrainska Pravda earlier this week. The recordings allegedly feature Timur Mindich and Rustem Umerov discussing FP’s financing and the sale of a stake to investors. Fire Point co-founder Denys Shtilerman published on X a letter that the company had sent to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine. The information referenced in the Ukrainska Pravda video was described as unreliable. The letter also stated that its dissemination is causing negative consequences for both the company and the country’s defence capacity. “The unreliability of the information is indicated, among other things, by the clearly inflated figures for the amounts of funds received by our company. In particular, the publication states that 311 billion UAH were allocated to the company, which is completely untrue, as the revenue from sales of FIRE POINT LLC for 2025 amounted to 29,324 million UAH,” the letter reads. The company also asked NABU to confirm whether it holds copies of the recordings published by Mykhailo Tkach, and to provide them for examination and expert analysis. Fire Point also reiterated once again that Mindich is not and has never been an owner or beneficiary of the company: “Any possible activity of the latter in relation to the company is exclusively the initiative and responsibility of those individuals who may appear in the recordings.” National Bank of Ukraine Governor Andriy Pyshnyi also stated that he had not communicated with those who mentioned his name in the tapes regarding Fire Point. As a reminder, the recordings allegedly feature Mindich asking Umerov whether he had summoned Pyshnyy, in the context of discussing the need for funds for Fire Point. According to the council, this would allow supplies to the front to continue without enriching individuals involved in corruption schemes. The council also added that if the connection between FP and Mindich is legally confirmed, the company will lose the ability to supply products to AFU, as the businessman is on the sanctions list. At the same time, the CEO of the Ukrainian Council of Defence Industry Ihor Fedirko believes that nationalisation could create more risks than it would solve. He writes that Ukraine needs companies like Fire Point that can scale rapidly. At the same time, if unlawful influence over contracts, hidden ownership, or the use of state funds for private interests is confirmed by an investigation, “this must have legal consequences.” The anti-corruption council also called for the establishment of a working group comprising representatives of the General Staff, investigators, and military personnel who use FP’s products, to conduct an audit of the company’s contracts and pricing.
