Denmark’s F‑35 Fleet Gets $842 Million JASSM‑ER Approval

The US Department of State has approved a potential Foreign Military Sale (FMS) worth $842 million covering the supply of 200 JASSM‑ER missiles to enhance the operational capabilities of the Royal Danish Air Force (RDAF). With Lockheed Martin as the prime contractor, the acquisition aims to give Denmark’s F‑35 fighter jets a long‑range precision strike capability. A significant boost in Danish air power is expected with the JASSM‑ER. The approved sale includes not only the missile systems themselves but also a broad logistics and technical infrastructure to ensure operational continuity. Under the procurement process, the package offers JASSM‑ER missile containers, test equipment and critical spare parts, along with the infrastructure services needed for field repair and logistical sustainment of the system. Other requirements include GPS services for precise positioning, software support, technical documentation, field surveys and transportation processes. Engineering and technical advisory services, carried out in cooperation with the US government and the contractor, will coordinate these efforts. The US Department of State stated that this sale supports America’s foreign policy and national security objectives by enhancing the security of allies in Europe. It also assesses that Denmark will face no technical difficulty integrating these systems into its armed forces. The proposed sale is not expected to alter the fundamental military balance of power in the region. The contribution of JASSM‑ER is being closely watched by regional countries as well.
