Representation of the People Bill House of Commons

00:04 - 01:57
Speaker 1
Order.  Order.  Good morning.  Would everyone ensure that all electronic devices are turned off or switched to silent mode?  We will continue line by line scrutiny of the representation of the people's bill.

The selection list for today's sitting is available in the room and on the parliamentary website.  This shows how the clauses, schedules, and selected amendments have been grouped together for debate.  A reminder that a member who has put their name to the lead amendment in a group is called first.  Or in the case of a stand apart debate, the minister will be called to speak first.  Other members are then free to indicate that they wish to speak the current to speak in the current debate by Bobbing.

At the end of a debate on a group of amendments and new clauses and schedules, I shall call the member who moved the lead amendment or new clause.  Before they sit down, they will need to indicate if they wish to withdraw the amendment or new clause or to seek, a decision.  If any member wishes to press any other amendment, and this includes grouped new clauses and schedules in a group to a vote, they need to let me know.  The order of decisions follows the order in which amendments appear on the amendment paper.  I hope that explanation is helpful.

I may ask for it to be recited.  We now come to Group 11 and Government Amendment eight to Clause 30, with which it will be convenient to consider Government Amendment nine, Clause 30 stand part and government amendment nineteen and twenty to schedule eight.  I call the minister to move government amendment eight.
