International Relations and Defence Committee House of Lords

00:02 - 01:04
Speaker 1
Today.  Today's session is the 11th public evidence session on the United Kingdom's future relationship with the United States.  It will focus on the US and multilateralism, and what shifts in US policy may mean for the UK's own strategy and partnerships.  The session will be streamed live on the Parliament website, and a transcript will be made.  And once they're available, it's ready.

You'll be shown a copy for minor amendments if you wish.  I remind members that if they have any interest pertinent to their question, they should declare it when first speaking.  The other thing to say is that there is a risk that we may have a division during the session.  And if that happens, I'm afraid we may need to break.  We will need to wait for ten minutes because some of us will need to go and vote.

Hope that's all right.  Perhaps may I ask each of you to introduce yourselves briefly, and then we can go into questions.  Ambassador, would you like to start?

Thank you very much.  I very much appreciate appearing before you today to testify in this hearing.  I am Ivo Dahlder.  I am recently retired as the president and CEO of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.  I am now a senior fellow at Harvard University's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.
