Order. Order. I call to order today's House of Commons Defense Committee evidence session. This is a one off special session on the pre appointment hearing with the preferred candidate for armed forces commissioner. A very warm welcome to you, miss Polly Miller Perkins, who is a preferred candidate of the secretary of state for defense for armed forces commissioner.
Because this meeting was set up at very short notice, that's why a few of the members have had to send apologies. But we're very much looking forward to having this interactive session with yourself. Today's meeting, rather than the usual two hours, is only for one and a half hours. So without further ado, I think we'll get straight into the questions with Lincoln Jop.

And I guess I'd I'd I'd love for you to tell the committee, you know, what what's been the route to here. Okay. That would be helpful.

So I did see the advert, at the end of the summer last year, but for domestic reasons, there was a bit flux in my domestic, life at that moment, and it wasn't appropriate for me to apply at that time, although it was sent to me by a number of colleagues who suggested I might be a good fit. It then came to about three weeks ago and I was contacted by Mr Bailey who I have not spoken to for ten years but did work with previously who inquired as to why I had not applied. My domestic circumstances by this point have firmed up. I have a robust home schedule now and so I did put my CV forward consideration. It became clear at that point that this would be an interim appointment.
