the mission. Thank Thank you very much. We're delighted to be here in Greece for a three days mission of the European Parliament, six members of the European Parliament representing four political groups, the European People's Party, the Socialists and Democrats, the Patriots for Europe, and we knew Europe coming from two parliamentary committees, the Committee on Economic and Monitor Affairs and the Committee on Budget. And the mission is chaired partly by my colleague, Carlo Ressler, partly by me yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The scope of this visit is the following.
We came as friends to discuss together with Greek colleagues here on the ground about the implementation of the European recovery and the the European recovery and resilience facility, which finances Greece's national recovery and resilience plan. Immediately after the beginning of the pandemic, the European Union reacted. It created the biggest package of economic support ever, almost €800,000,000,000, recovery resilience utility to help countries, regions, enterprises, and people affected by the COVID pandemic, by the economic and social consequences. The scope was also to increase the resilience of the economies, of the public administration, of the social, systems so that never again in the future a crisis finds us as unprepared. Greece is one of the major beneficiaries of this facility.
