Good afternoon, everyone. Hello. Welcome to our press conference on the European Union's Cohesion Policy with reporter Mr. Jace Protas, EPP Poland. A reminder that parliament's own initiative report reacting to the commission's ninth report on economic, social and territorial cohesion was debated yesterday in plenary, and we expect the vote to take Spanish.
You can ask your question or listening in any of those languages. But yes, that's it. Without further ado, we go over to a short statement by the reporter, and then we can take questions from the room and online.

Ladies and gentlemen, we debated the report, which after a vote on Thursday will outline the position of the European Parliament on the future of the cohesion policy, the future of that policy in the next financial perspective twenty twenty eight, two thousand thirty four. That report was widely debated and consulted with numerous organizations, NGOs, sectoral organizations with the Committee of Regions as well as with the governments of member states that adopted position on it. Previously, that report gained a lot of support in the Reggie Committee twenty four votes, four and four only four against. Let me tell you a few words about the contents. We emphasize clearly that the cohesion policy is and will have to remain the main investment tool of the European Union.
It may not be used in order to react in emergency and crisis situations. It may not fall to various events that might emerge during the period of implementation. The cohesion policy in order to fulfill its tasks needs to have a high level of financing, not lower than in the current programming period, realistically speaking, which means we have to take account of the inflation rates. The cohesion policy must be decentralized. We do not agree to any forms of top down centralization.
