Thank you very much for being ready to accept this. So I finalize now the panel and again thanks a lot for all the questions and for the contributions that we have heard today. So I would like to change to point 20 of the agenda, the mobilization of the European Globalization Adjustment Fund for displaced workers at the initiative of the Commission. I would like to give the floor to our rapporteur Lucia Yar.

Thank you chair. So we're moving to another point in the agenda. We will be discussing the mobilization of 210,000 euros from the European Globalization Adjustment Fund for the technical assistance requested by the Commission. This amount represents around 0.6% of the fund's annual ceiling, but it also serves a reasonable purpose, which is improving the implementation, visibility and accessibility of the EGF across the European Union. Looking into the overall use of this fund during the current MFF period, I see that some areas for improving are still there, especially when it comes to the awareness of the fund and the need to further simplify the EGF application procedure.
This was also my approach while drafting this report, endorsing the technical assistance. The EGF is one of the EU's most tangible instrument of solidarity and an emergency tool. It helps workers who lose their jobs because of major reconstructing global economic shifts, industrial transformation or market disruption. It supports their reintegration into the labor market and it also helps to people to navigate through difficult career decisions. And unfortunately, the need for such support is currently growing as the European companies and employees, employers are facing unprecedented challenges.
I don't think I need to go through many of this, but too often we see that the workers are those who have to pay the price through mass redundancies and restructuring. And this is precisely why the EGF matters and will matter also in the upcoming two years while we still will be able to use it. When we look at the use of the fund, and I think this is a subject we've also been discussing in the previous session, fund during the current and the previous MFF, we see imbalances because some of the member states make active use of this fund while others hardly use it at all. Sometimes some member states have never experienced this or had had any experience with this fund even though obviously these countries are experiencing significant layoffs. For instance, my own country, member state that has never used EGF, I see also firsthand that the challenges, that the challenge is not always the lack of need, but more, more of an issue is the lack of awareness, procedure length and administrative preparedness.
