Science and Technology Committee House of Lords
00:04 - 01:21
Speaker 1
Good morning. Welcome to this session of the Science and Technology Select Committee. We are undertaking our inquiry on innovation in the NHS, personalized medicine and AI. And we're very pleased that we have as our two witnesses this morning, Matthew Dirty, the CEO of the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult, and Professor Chris Molloy, the CEO of the Medicines Discovery Catapult. So let me start, please.
Could you each briefly introduce your catapults, explain where they sit in the pipeline from research to patient? We're interested in understanding how the catapult model works in these sectors. We'd like to know what you feel you've practically achieved in helping to bridge the gaps between research, the life sciences industry and the NHS. And we'd like to know also what is your role in scaling up the availability of treatments and life sciences companies. So why don't you start?
Matthew Dirty, would you like to start?

Speaker 2
Thank you. Yes. Matthew Dirty, chief exec of Cell and Gene Therapy Gaspolt. Our vision at the Gaspolt is for there to be UK companies globally leading in the supply of transformative medicines to the world, which says quite a lot about the aspects of this inquiry. In order for that to happen, we see four key conditions all of which would need to be met and we work on those conditions.
