Thank you very much indeed, sir Desmond. It's great to see you as always in the chair. I beg to move that the committee has considered the draft grant to the church's conservation trust order 2026. I'm pleased to be speaking to this order, which was laid before the house and draft on the January 28. This order requires that the government may continue to provide funding for the church's conservation trust from here on in known as CCT.
The CCT is a charity that was established by legislation in 1969 as the redundant church's fund aimed at protecting an essential part of heritage. It demonstrates a successful partnership between church, government and communities. CCT plays a crucial role in caring for some of the most architecturally impressive churches which are no longer required for regular worship. It currently cares for over three churches and towns, villages and cities all across England, all of which are listed mostly grade one and two, and some are scheduled ancient monuments as well. CCT's collections are showcased in how historic buildings can be brought back to life creatively to continue to serve the communities that they were built for once their original use is no longer required.
