Order.  Order.  Welcome to this morning's evidence session and we'll be looking at the work of National Highways examining their strategic priorities and performance, and also discussing the third road investment strategy.  And we really appreciate that several members of the senior leadership team at National Highways are with us today putting aside and have put time aside to prepare for this and also to come today.  It's particularly good to welcome you, chair, as I believe this this is your first appearance in front of the select committee.

Morning.  So could I ask you please to all introduce yourselves?  I guess senior chair, but first Okay.  I'll give first.  Thank you, chair.

Good morning,

and thank you for holding this session.  This is an important an important sub subject.  I'm Gareth Reese Williams, and I had a career in industry running engineering firms before I joined the cabinet office in in 2016 as government chief commercial officer, and I transitioned out of that to take over as chair of National Highways in April 2024.  So I've been there two years.
