Environment and Climate Change Committee House of Lords

00:06 - 01:53
Speaker 1
Good morning, and welcome to the Lord's Environment and Climate Change Committee.  Today for sorry.  I'm so sorry.  I'm I'm on the wrong script here.  I would just I'm back to the right one.

So today's meeting is the first of two follow-up sessions to the committee's waste inquiry, which reported in October.  We will be hearing from the DEFRA Secretary of State the right honorable Emma Reynolds MP accompanied by two officials from DEFRA and before we start may I remind everyone that the session will be webcast live and transcript will be taken and made public.  Witnesses will have an opportunity to review the transcript and if necessary make minor amendments.  And members are reminded they should declare any relevant interest the first time they speak.  And I'll take the opportunity here to say that I'm a director of peers for the planet.

May I make an appeal at the outset, as we have much ground to cover that questions are kept short and that answers are kept to the point and elaborated on only when necessary.  And so may I start by thanking the Secretary of State for taking the time to be with us today and her colleagues.  It really is much appreciated.  And before we start, may I ask our panel today to briefly introduce themselves?
