Communications and Digital Committee House of Lords

Speaker 24
Good afternoon.  Welcome to this meeting of the Communications and Digital Committee.  Today, we're holding the first of a short series of evidence sessions focused on the BBC charter review.  The government kicked off this review process by publishing in December a green paper setting out proposals for the BBC's next royal charter.  The public consultation on those proposals closed in March, and we're expecting a white paper to follow later this year.

And in our work on this committee, we'll be focusing particularly proposals put forward in chapters two and three of the green paper.  We'll discuss these with a range of witnesses in the coming weeks.  So I'm delighted to welcome you on our first panel in in this short inquiry.  So first, could I ask each of you to introduce yourselves, starting with Chris Whiting?
