Essentially, we go on this journey on the south coast from Bosham, and the English have a little feast here. Notice that they have their plates. They don't drink much, I mean, sorry, they don't eat much, but they drink a lot. Historically accurate, I'm sure. So we go across here.
You can see the conversation going on between Harold and Guy, where news then reaches Duke William that he has this captive. The tapestry does a strange thing here where it reverses the sequence, and you see the messengers leaving Duke William and coming towards Guy here. And then this is the kind of first stop, I suppose, that we have. This is the first stop we have where you see William and Harold meeting each other for the first time. And I was reminded that obviously the Duchy of Normandy still exists in the Channel Islands, and also the Duke of Wessex exists as well.
So this is where Harold and Guy kind of first meet. Sue, did you want to come and do the next? Sue's going to do the next scene. Taking it in turns along the tapestry.

So what we see next is William and Harold going to William's palace in Normandy, where we have a wonderful image here of William and Harold discussing with each other in a rather grand building that you can see with the many arches, the arcade along the top here. And this is a rather wonderful example of how the borders to the tapestry, the parts that run along the top and the bottom, kind of get involved in the action. So above William, who's on this side seated, and Harold, who's holding his hand out like this, we see two peacocks who appear to be mimicking, mirroring the posture of the two men. So the one that is reflecting William looks rather calm and is sort of standing there with its wings folded, but the one that's reflecting Harold, who's in an agitated state, has its plumage all out. So it sort of shows us how the two are working together to tell the story.
