Intervenant 1
Standing here in front of this student dormitory reminds me of my student years.  This was still in the common country which doesn't exist anymore, but I have very good memories on this time.  And seeing what you are building here, Madam Minister, Mr. Deputy Prime Minister, for your students, it's amazing.  Even more amazing it is that Europe, with the help of the German Development Bank, can be a part of this project.  Why is this important?

Sometimes we politicians have a tendency that we speak too much about the politics, the policies, but we don't speak about the people.  But the projects we are financing or co-financing, this is really about the people, about the citizens of North Macedonia.  You know, we sometimes hear that children are our future, but actually they are our present.  So we need to do as much as possible for them already now to be able that later on will be able to work for your country and also for the European Union.  It is also a proof that once we have a candidate country like North Macedonia, European Union can deliver on many different areas.

We can be included in building infrastructure, transport infrastructure, energy infrastructure, but this is also infrastructure for the students to be able to really study well.  I would like to thank you, the government, the minister, for accompanying this project, which is really a good project for the students.  I was told more than 1,000 students will have places here, and this is amazing.  I hope that I will be able to come back once you will finish the work here to speak to the students.  And I have one more message.

The last survey we have done here in North Macedonia says that 80% of people of North Macedonia trust EU.  And this is the organization with the highest level of trust among all the international institutions.  I know and sometimes I regret the path you had to go through in the past.  My call to action is that we cannot change what happened in the past, but we can look with the eyes from the past in the future.  And this is where we should be concentrated today.
