Thank you very much, dear Executive Vice-President Mînzatu, dear Roxana. So first, I'm very, I'm very grateful for the trust you put in me of this chairing this skills high-level board. And it's been, it's been joyful, I must say. There are very interesting members in the board and they have a lot of experience, they have a lot of expertise and they are really ready to share it with us. So we have had very good discussions and a lot of input from the board.
So I would like to thank all the, also all the board members. We are only in the beginning of our work, so just a little bit to explain. This board will deliver recommendations twice a year. We will focus each time on one topic. So we will not cover everything because everybody knows skills is very broad, there's so much that we need to, to do.
So we will focus on, on one topic at a time. And what we have been discussing very much, and you also explained it very well here, how skills are the people component of competitiveness. And skills can only come to life in people. Skills cannot exist without people. People have to use their skills and employers have to use the skills that their employees have.
So this is also part how to develop skills and also how to use the skills. And we have also been discussing quite a lot of the, of course, the big skills shortages in many sectors, but also looking into demography. So we can see that this skill shortage will not go away without big initiatives because we have an aging society. The people in working age are declining with one million per year. And we see no change of more young people coming into the labor market.
