This is on social media ban for kids.  Antoine Mouton for Japanese public TV NHK.  Since French Parliament just adopted a ban for kids under 15, I was wondering what's your assessment on this specific point, since the recent child safety online report submitted to President von der Leyen concluded restrictions should be applied from under 13.  So in this regard, is 15 enough?  And also, since the DSA guidelines recall that national law may set a minimum age to access social media services, would you encourage all member states to follow France's example by setting a minimum age as well?

Thank you.

Thanks Antoine.  Let me start by saying that we welcome, of course, the steps taken by the French authorities on this law.  You will remember that we had issued a detailed opinion and we were asking indeed the French authorities to bring the draft in line with Union law, here namely the Digital Services Act.  So I will not go into the assessment that we're currently doing.  There is a standstill period until the 10th of August, but generally speaking, positive developments.

We welcome such developments and this is important for the protection of our kids online.  Now that being said, the protection of kids online has no borders.  This is not a challenge that is limited to France and French kids.  We need to keep working, and this is what the Commission and the President are doing.  We need to keep working on a European common harmonized solution and approach.
