Intervenant 1
Thank you. Thank you so much, Paula. Good afternoon, everybody. We are happy to be with you today on very relevant initiatives that have been adopted by the College. We have adopted something that has been expected for a while, so to help authorities in the member states tackle the housing crisis through the Affordable Housing Act.
We will present this initiative shortly alongside Commissioner Jørgensen and myself. In addition, we have adopted proposals to modernize public contracts and strengthen Europe's innovation ecosystem through the Public Procurement Act and the European Innovation Act. Executive Vice-President Séjourné and Commissioner Zaharieva will walk you through those immediately following this press conference. And finally, we have adopted a package of measures for the EU's outermost regions. Executive Vice-President Fiter will be here in the press room tomorrow morning to present the details of this package.
With that said, let us turn to the main topic of this press conference, the Affordable Housing Act. Because as I said, today we have adopted this proposal. It is a European framework to give a legal umbrella to mayors from across the European Union that need certainty to tackle the housing problem and to allow, to the extent possible, that we count on these common criteria to ensure that things happen all along the single market in a similar way. Housing is a top priority for this Commission. The dimension of this crisis makes it urgent to act with urgency, but there is not a single silver bullet that can solve this problem.
