I declare open this public hearing of the standing committee on health, aged care, and disability inquiry into Throwing Kids initiative.  I'd like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land from which we meet today and pay my respects to their ancestors and elders past, present, and emerging.  I extend this respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their culture and spiritual connections to Australia's lands and waters.  In accordance with the committee's resolution of the 08/21/2025, this hearing will be broadcast on the parliament's website, and the proof and official transcripts of proceedings will be published on the inquiry website.  I remind members of the media of the need to fairly and accurately report the proceedings of the committee.

I remind all public officials and stakeholders who are present before us in ensuring the safety of children during these proceedings.  This includes avoiding the use of names or identifying details when referring to children and ensuring that any discussion involving children is respectful, appropriate, and consistent with our shared responsibility to maintain a safe environment.  We will not also be publishing, unauthorized pictures of children, in our inquiry papers.  I invite, members of the committee to introduce themselves.
