Okay. Well, good afternoon, all. It being around 12:00, I declare open this public hearing of the parliamentary standing committee on public works for the inquiry into Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness Stage one Part Life REPIT. The committee's role, defined in the Public Works Committee Act 1969, is to consider and report on the purpose and need for the proposed works, the most effective use of public money that can be made in carrying out the works, and the present and prospective public value of the proposed works. In accordance with the committee's resolution of the 07/31/2025, this hearing will be broadcast on the parliament's website, and the proof and official transcripts of proceedings will be published on the parliament's website.
I also remind members of the media who may be present or listening on the web of the need to fairly and accurately report the proceedings of the committee. I'm Tony Zapier, the chair of the committee. To my right, mister Andrew Wilcox, the deputy chair, and further to my right, senator Josh DeLiga. We may also be joined online by a couple of other committee members. So, if so, we'll let you know who they are.
If any committee members are participating via Chorus Call and they are listening in, I remind them, I remind committee members participating via chorus call to mute their microphones when not speaking and to give their name each time they speak to assist witnesses and Hansard.
