15 February 2026

Senate Select Committee on Information Integrity on Climate Change and Energy Australian Parliament

10:08 - 11:05
Speaker 1
Yep.  I declare open this hearing of the senate select committee on information integrity on climate change and energy.  I begin by acknowledging the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet, the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples of Ngunnawal country and pay my respects to their elders past and present.  I extend that respect to all aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders people here today.  The committee will be conducting today's hearing in person and by video conference.

Committee members attending in in the room are myself, senator Wish Wilson's chair, senator Anand Raja as deputy chair, and senator Robertson, senator Pocock.  Joining us via video conference are senator Canavan, senator Darman, and senator McLaughlin.  These are public proceedings being video streamed live via the parliament's website, and a hand side transcript is being made.  I remind witnesses that in giving evidence to the committee, they are protected by parliamentary privilege, It is unlawful for anyone to threaten or disadvantage a witness on account of evidence given to a committee, and such action may be treated by the senate as a contempt.  It is also a contempt to give false or misleading evidence.
