Public hearing of the House of Representatives standing committee on economics for the inquiry into schemes, digital wallets, and innovation in the payment sector being held here in Canberra. I begin by acknowledging the traditional custodians of the lands on which we meet today. I pay my respects to elders past and present and also extend that respect to any aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples joining us today. I wanna welcome all the witnesses appearing before the committee as well as members of the public and the media in the room and those watching online. In accordance with the committee's resolution of 07/31/2025, the hearing will be broadcast on the parliament's website, and the proof and official transcripts of the proceedings will be published on the website.
I'd like to remind all present that, as chair, I will ensure that proceedings are conducted in an orderly and respectful and courteous way. Those present are advised that filming and recording by the media is permitted during the hearing. However, we do ask that members of the media present or listening report the committee's proceedings fairly and accurately. Media present are also asked to conduct themselves in a way that doesn't interfere with proceedings and must not encroach on the committee's work area or film or photograph documents or devices of committee members, witnesses, or others. So with that, I'd like to welcome representatives of AuspayNet and Fintech Australia, to give evidence.
