Speaker 1
The outstanding committee on industry innovation and science for its inquiry into the current state of the Australian tire industry and in the challenges and opportunities for the industry within the context of a circular economy. I acknowledge that where we meet today is the traditional lands of the Ngunnawal and Ngambri people and pay my respects to elders past and present. I remind all witnesses that in giving evidence to the committee, are protected by parliamentary privilege. It is unlawful for anyone to threaten disadvantage a witness on account of evidence given to a committee, and as such, action may be treated by the parliament as contempt. In accordance with the committee's resolution of 08/06/2025, this hearing will be recorded and broadcast on the parliament's website, and proof and official transcripts of proceedings will be published on the parliament's website.
I also remind members of the media who may be present or listening on the web of the need to fairly and accurately report the proceedings of the committee of the committee. So I now wish to, welcome the representatives today from the Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment, and Water to give evidence at the public hearing.
