Hearing. Is is Hansard right? Yep. Yep. I declare open this public hearing of the Hansard...
17:51 - 18:40
Speaker 18
Of the human rights subcommittee of the joint standing committee on foreign affairs, defense, and trade in relation to its inquiry into gender equality as a national security and economic security imperative. I'd like to begin by acknowledging the traditional owners of the land of which we meet today. I would I pay my respects to elders past and present. I also acknowledge the cultures of any Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people present with us today. This hearing will be broadcast on the parliament's website, and the proof and official transcripts of the proceedings will be published on the committee's website.
I now welcome officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to give evidence today. For the hand side record, would you please state your names and capacity in which you appear before the human rights subcommittee? And before you do that, I will introduce myself. I'm Tony Zapier, the chair of the committee. Perhaps I'll hand over to my colleagues.
