I open the public hearing of the standing committee on education's inquiry into building Asia capability in Australia through the education system and beyond. I acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands from which we are all meeting today, and I owe my respects to elders past and present of the indigenous peoples across Australia. This hearing will be broadcast, and the transcript of proceedings will be published on the Parliament's website. I'll now invite parliamentarians from the committee who are joining this morning to introduce themselves. I might start with our West Australians first.
