Now declare open the public hearing of the standing committee on social policy and legal affairs inquiry into the relationship between domestic family and sexual violence, victimization and suicide. I'd like to acknowledge the traditional original owners of this land, the Mooiwina, yes, thank you, people to pay respect to those who have passed before us and to acknowledge today's Tasmanian Aboriginal people who are custodians of the land. I respect I extend this respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their cultural and spiritual connections to Australia's lands and waters. This hearing will be broadcast, and the transcript of proceedings will be published on the parliament's website. For those in person or listening online, please be advised that this hearing may contain evidence that could cause distress.
If you hear anything today that upsets or causes distress, please reach out to support lines such as 1800, Lifeline, 13, Kids Helpline or other support services. There is also a parliamentary workplace support service and employee assistance program for broadcasting Hansard, the committee secretariat and for the committee and its member staff.
