House Standing Committee on Social Policy and Legal Affairs Australian Parliament
17:51 - 19:10
Speaker 19
I declare open the public hearing to the Standing Committee on Social Policy and Legal Affairs inquiry into the relationship between domestic, family and sexual violence victimization and suicide. I'd like to acknowledge the traditional Gadigal custodians of the Eora land on which we meet today and all of those who are online, the traditional owners of the lands that they are on as well. I pay my respects to ancestors, past, present and emerging. I extend this respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their cultural and spiritual connections to Australia's lands and waters. This hearing will be broadcast and the transcript of proceedings will be published on Parliament's website.
For those in person or listening online, if anything you hear today upsets you or causes distress, please reach out to 1800, Lifeline, 13, Kids Helpline or other support services. There is also a parliamentary workplace support service and employee assistance program for broadcasting CANSARD and the committee secretariat for the committee itself. Now, just checking who's online. I think we've got Gabriel Ng, Michael McCormack, MacGregg and Sarah Witty and David Smith and I are here in person. Is there anyone else online from the committee?
19:11 - 19:15
Speaker 2
Yes, Kate Chaney here as well, Chair. Lovely. Thank you, Kate.
19:15 - 19:23
Speaker 16
Kate, we're also on the SIGNAL Committee chat, if you want to go on there. That's how I manage questions or that's how I did it yesterday.
