Senate Select Committee on Productivity in Australia Australian Parliament
00:00 - 00:28
Speaker 39
The conundrum is that one of the big productivity drivers in our country is, in fact, the urban agglomeration benefits from from density in our inner inner cities. So if one were to propose, you know, a pretty unadorned decentralisation policy, it could come with a productivity cost.
00:28 - 01:07
Speaker 23
No one's suggesting that at all. No. No. No. Happy to take you to cities like Albury Wodonga or Dubbo or other other cities, Bendigo, going gangbusters with really high paid jobs, not with a decentralization agenda.
We're not in the seventies anymore. And as much as Albo likes to pretend he's Whitlam, he's not. So I'm really interested in probably a policy agenda that Yeah. Recognise... So what you're saying is we need greater density planning where the jobs are.
So it's a bit of a NIMBY's problem, is it? A bit of a NIMBY problem?
