Well, good morning, everybody.  It being 09:30, I'm going to get this inquiry hearing underway.  I declare open this public hearing of the Human Rights Subcommittee of the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Trade in relation to its inquiry into gender equality as a national security and economic security imperative.  I begin by acknowledging the Traditional Owners of the land on which we meet today.  I pay my respects to elders past and present.
