Senate Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Legislation Committee Australian Parliament

Speaker 19
Day around the different views on the detail that should be in in in the charter standards, allows the charter to be responsive to changes, in industry practices and consumer, expectations throughout the course of, drafting the the charter standards.  For example, there was an initial proposal to require physical signage, at the time of booking, and we got quite strong feedback that that's not that's not plausible in all scenarios, particularly with some airports moving to, electronic signage only.  So that's an example of where, useful to have that flexibility to put that detail in subordinate legislation.

Speaker 41
So that...  That's where where, I guess, we're going to.  Am I correct in saying that the standards, as they, evolve over time, we can be flexible, and and, adapt to adapt to the times and feedback with using the delegated legislation model?
00:57 - 01:21
Speaker 19
Absolutely.  And when you look at international parallels, senator, for example, I think all of the the the examples I can think of all put this detail of obligations in delegated legislation.  Canada, they've had their, framework in place for, I think, a decade or more now.  2019.  And they've already been through a a a review and updated those, that detail in subordinate legislation.
01:21 - 01:22
About to update it.
