Welcome, everyone, particularly to the number of members and senators that we have with us here tonight.  It is a great pleasure to have you all here.  I'm Jala Hinchcliffe, the secretary of the department of parliamentary services, and I'll be your emcee for this event.  I'd like to start by acknowledging the Ngunnawal and Nambri people as the traditional custodians on this fantastic land here in Canberra that we're meeting on.  I'd like to acknowledge and respect their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of this city and this region.

I also extend my acknowledgement and welcome to the other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people that we have attending tonight's event.  Welcome, and thank you for being with us.  Tonight, I also welcome Ngunnawal elder Auntie Violet to deliver a welcome to country.  Auntie Violet.
