I declare over this public hearing the House Standing Committee on Industry Innovation and Science for its inquiry into the current state of the Australian tire industry and the challenges and opportunities for the industry within the context of the circular economy. I acknowledge that we... That where the committee meets today in Canberra is the traditional land of the Malawal and Ngambri peoples, and I pay my respects to elders past and present as well as elders past and present to the land on which our witnesses join us. I remind all witnesses that in giving evidence to the committee, they are protected by parliamentary privilege.
It is unlawful for anyone to threaten or disadvantage a witness on account of evidence given to the committee, and such action shall be treated by the parliament as contempt. In accordance with the committee's resolution of 08/06/2025, this hearing will be recorded and broadcast on the parliament's website, and proof and official transcripts of proceedings will be published on the parliament's website. I also remind members of the media who may be present or listening on the web of the need to fairly and accurately report the proceedings of the committee. I now welcome representatives from the Remote Area Planning and Development Board, the North Queensland Regional Organization of Councils, and the Far North Queensland Regional Organization of Councils to give evidence at this public hearing, today.
