Joint Standing Committee on Treaties Australian Parliament
13:43 - 15:14
Speaker 1
Claire opened the second hearing on the joint standing committee on treaties for its inquiry into the WIPO treaty on intellectual property, genetic resources, and associated traditional knowledge. I begin by acknowledging the traditional custodians on the land in which we all meet from today and pay my respects to elders both past and present. I extend that respect to any First Nations people that are joining us today. In accordance with the committee's resolution of 07/31/2025, this hearing will be broadcast, and proof and official transcripts of the proceeding will be published on the parliament's website. I remind all present that, as chair, I will ensure that the proceedings are conducted in an orderly, respectful, and courteous way.
Because many people are joining us remotely today, please use the hand function on the, on the Webex network. Or if you're a member of the committee, we still have the, signals chat group working. I remind all members of the media, for the need of fair and accurate reporting of the proceedings of the committee. I'd now like to call our first witness this afternoon. I'd like to welcome warmly the indigenous knowledge panel to give evidence today.
For the hand side record, could you please state your full name and the capacity in which you are appearing before the committee?
15:16 - 15:26
Speaker 29
