House Standing Committee on Industry, Innovation and Science Australian Parliament
44:59 - 46:14
Speaker 1
This public hearing of the House Standing Committee on Industry Innovation and Science for its inquiry into the current state of the Australian tire industry and any challenges and opportunities for the industry within the context of a circular economy. I would like to begin by acknowledging the traditional owners of the land, the Gadigal people, and the land on which we meet today and pay my respects to elders past and present. I remind all witnesses that giving evidence to the committee, they are protected by parliamentary privilege. It is unlawful for anyone to threaten or disadvantage a witness on account of evidence given to a committee and as such may be treated by the parliament as contempt. In accordance with the committee's resolution of 08/06/2025, this hearing will be recorded and broadcast on the parliament's website, and proof and official transcripts of proceedings will be published on the parliament's website.
I also remind members of the media who may be present or listening on the web of the need to fairly and accurately report the proceedings of the committee. So I now welcome representatives from the Australia Australian Tire Industry Council via teleconference, to give evidence at this public hearing today. For the Hansard record, could you please state your full name and the capacity in which you appear, please?

Speaker 1
Thank you very much. Although the committee does not require you to give evidence under oath, I should advise you these hearings are a formal proceedings of the parliament. Consequently, they warrant the same respect as proceedings of the parliament itself. Giving false or misleading evidence is a serious matter and may be regarded as a contempt of parliament. So I'd now invite you to make an opening statement.
