So I declare open this public hearing of the Joint Standing Committee on Trade and Investment for its inquiry into creating sustainable economic growth in rural and regional Australia. I'd like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands from which we're meeting today, including people who are meeting on different lands via video conference, and I acknowledge the Kaurna people I'm joining here today from Adelaide.
We pay as a committee our respects to their ancestors and elders past, present and emerging, and extend this respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their cultural and spiritual connections to Australia's lands and waters. In accordance with committee resolution of 27 August 2025, this hearing will be broadcast on the Parliament's website and the proof and official transcripts of proceedings will be published on the inquiry website. I remind members of the media who need to fairly and accurately report the proceedings of the committee. To assist with the transcription of the public hearing, it would be appreciated if everyone could please state their name before responding to each question. I invite members of the committee to introduce themselves, and we'll start with Mr. Wilson.
