Good afternoon everyone. It being after 1:00 PM, I declare open this public hearing of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works for the inquiry into the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation Campus Utilities Building Project, Lucas Heights. The committee's role as defined in the Public Works Committee Act of 1969 is to consider and report on the purpose and need for the proposed works, the most effective use of public money that can be made in carrying out the works, and the present and prospective public value of the proposed works. In accordance with the committee's resolutions of the 31st of July 2025, this hearing will be broadcast on the Parliament's website, and the proof and official transcripts of proceedings will be published on the Parliament's website. I also remind members of the media who may be present or listening on the web of the need to fairly and accurately report the proceedings of the committee.
I'm Tony Zappia, the chair of the committee, and I'll get my colleagues to introduce themselves as well.
