Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee House of Commons

00:04 - 01:03
Speaker 1
Welcome to the housing committees and the government committee.  This is the third evident session of our inquiry into the draft common holder and leaseholder form bill.  The chair of this committee, Florence Esalami, is unable to attend the this meeting due to other unavoidable parliamentary engagements, so I'm chairing today in her place.  On a procedural point before we begin, we are aware that there is at least one ongoing legal case regarding the leasehold free Reform Act 2024.  I would like to remind members and witnesses that following discussions between the chair of the commit this committee and speaker of the house of commons, this committee is exercising a waiver to the subdue judicial resolution to enable us to unsafe this pre legislative scrutiny.

This means that the committee and our witnesses can discuss any legal cases if they are relevant.  Any evidence given to this committee, whether orally or in writing, will, in any case, be protected by parliamentary privilege in the usual way.  My name is Gagam Hindra.  I'm the member of parliament for South West Hartford.  Can I invite my committee members to introduce themselves?
01:03 - 01:06
Speaker 2
John Woodcock, member of parliament for Banbury.
01:06 - 01:09
Speaker 3
Chris Curtis, MP for Milton Keynes North.
