I beg to move that the committee has considered the draft goods vehicle testing driver's hours and tachographs, etcetera, amendment regulations, 2026.  It's a pleasure to serve with you in the chair, sir Alec.  I know we both know a thing or two about changing weight categories.  These these I couldn't resist.  I couldn't resist.

I might say you're looking very well for it.  These regulations will be made under powers in the Road Traffic Act of 1988 and the related EU law, revocation and reform act 2023.  The regulations alter the rules that apply to zero emission vans weighing over 3.5 tons up to and including 4.25 tons, which I will hereafter refer to as 3.5 to 4.25 ton zero emission vans in three ways.  Firstly, 3.5 to 4.25 ton zero emission vans will be moved from the heavy vehicle testing system into the class seven MOT testing system.  Secondly, the date of the first test will also change from the first test what the first test one year after initial registration with annual testing thereafter to the first test three years after initial registration with annual testing thereafter.
