My Lords, I have the honor to present to your Lordships a message from His Majesty the King, signed by his own hand. The message is as follows.

I have received with great satisfaction the dutiful and loyal expression of your thanks for the speech with which I opened the present session of Parliament. My Lords, I should like to notify the House of the retirement with effect from today of the noble Lord, Lord Hennessy of Nympsfield, pursuant to section one of the House of Lords Reform Act 2014. On behalf of the House, I should like to thank the noble Lord for his much valued service to this House. First oral question, Baroness Hayter of Kentish Town.
