Westminster Hall House of Commons
00:27 - 02:07
Speaker 4
Order. Before we begin, I will remind members, as the rules of behavior note, the privilege of freedom of speech in a debate allows us to conduct our debates without fear of outside interference. But it is a freedom which should be exercised responsibly, in the public interest, and taking into account the interest of others outside of this house. Additionally, paragraph 21.2 of Erskine May states, good temper and moderation are the characteristics of parliamentary language. Again, with reference to the rules of behavior, there is no hard and fast list of unparliamentary words, whether someone is said to breach order depends on the context.
Any abuse or insulting language used in debates will be required to be withdrawn immediately. I remind members of the public that they are here to observe proceedings and not participate or comment. Demonstrations of approval or disapproval are not permitted and any interruption from proceedings will result in removal from the gallery. This debate is very oversubscribed and there will be limited time. And if your name is not on my list to speak, you will not be called.
Anyone who is on my list, I still expect you to stand, and any interventions will be minimum in response and in asking. I hope I've made myself perfectly clear. On that note, I call John Lamont to move the motion.

Thank you, Ms. Harris. It's a pleasure to serve with you in the chair. I beg to move that this house has considered e-petition 752646 relating to pro-Israel influence on UK politics and democracy.
