Malvern Hills Bill [HL] Committee House of Lords

00:02 - 02:02
Speaker 1
Good morning, and welcome to this the fifteenth day of the sitting of the select committee on the Malvern Hills bill.  We have one of our members absent this morning, lord Ponsonby, but we understand that there is no objection to us proceeding without him, and we're anxious to make progress in the interest of everybody.  And since you're all here, we'll just proceed as we are with four instead of five.  But the a a careful note is being taken of what is being said, and he will be able to read up what he missed by not being here himself.  Could I ask those who are here who have mobile phones with them to be sure that they're switched off so that they don't disturb us in the course of this session.

Can I also say something about our fire precautions in this building?  We don't have bells, fire alarms of that kind.  We have a two tone signal, a two tone siren followed by a message tape message with instructions.  The basic position is if we do have a fire alarm, which I think is very unlikely, we will have to leave this room and you should follow the instructions of the clerk as to where to go.  If you happen to be outside at the time, look for a security office officer, and they will direct you as to what to do.

These proceedings have been broadcast, and a full transcript will be taken of everybody's evidence and statements.  Do please look at the transcript when it's available and if you spot any mistakes, let us know and the the transcript will be corrected.  If we have to go into private session, which is unlikely, we will adjourn the proceedings briefly, but I think we are unlikely to need to do that today.  We should have a full session until lunchtime without interruption.  So missus Dooks, I think it's for you to begin.

And I I believe you're going to make a statement and lead some evidence.  Is that correct?
