And welcome to this meeting of the Scottish Affairs Committee. Today we're going to be looking at the theme of securing Scotland's future, defence skills and jobs. Thank you all very much for joining us this morning. Could I ask you to very briefly introduce yourselves and your role, please? I'll start with mister Stead.

Thanks, chair. Good morning, everyone. My name is Mark Stead. I'm the senior vice president for radar and advanced targeting, at Leonardo. So I head up the Edinburgh and Newcastle businesses of Leonardo, principally Edinburgh based just in two miles south north of the center.
We are world leaders in airborne radar and advanced targeting systems. I've been there since 1943 with gyro gun sites for Spitfire and the like and originally for anti. I personally have been in the defense industry most of my career studying in Cardiff and then working in the Ministry of Defense around the corner from here and then, laterally, elsewhere in England and Scotland. So I've led the business for about six and a half years in Edinburgh. That's me.
