And a very warm welcome to the Joint Education and Work and Pension Select Committee inquiry into delivering the child poverty strategy. And it's a a pleasure to welcome our panel of experts today. Today. We have Tom Drake, from EFL in the community, George, Looker from Baby Zone, Beatrice Orchard from Trussell, and Annabel Smith for the West of England combined authority. So as I say, a very warm welcome.

Thank you for joining us. I'm gonna start the questions, and I'd like, to get from your perspective in terms of working with families locally what you feel the challenges are these families are are are facing. Who would like to start? Okay. So

kick off. Thank Thank you. Yep. Yep. So at Trussell, we support a UK wide network of of food banks right across all parts of The UK and providing emergency food provision and other practical support to families who are unable to afford food and other essentials because of extremely low incomes.

And that's why they're coming to the doors of food banks. So 62% of the emergency food parcels provided by Trussell food banks are for families with children, and that's despite people living in these families making up just 42% of population. And, actually, we know that the over representation there is largely driven by families with three or more children. And our evidence is is really clear that it is that insufficient income, those extremely low incomes, particularly from Social Security that is the main reason driving families to the doors of food banks. So on that basis, scrapping the two child limit in the two child in the child poverty strategy is a is a hugely positive step.
