Majesties, Madam President, heads of states and governments, ministers, excellencies, ladies and gentlemen, dear friends. First of all, I want to apologize, I made you wait. I was with the president of a big island, but still an island, President Trump, so the agenda was a little bit up and down, but I'm finally here and I wanted to be part of you. I'm greatly honored to accept this award and especially for the involvement of France and the whole team, minister is here, the ambassador Olivier Poivre d'Arvor and a lot of people who work very hard for this agenda and I want to thank all of them. And I wanted to be here to express my gratitude to my dear friends of what we sometimes call the small island.
As an Indo-Pacific nation, I visited some of you, I was used to participate to some of your formats and I've always been impressed by your commitment and I was educated by your lucidity. And a lot of people for years and years underestimated this agenda, but this agenda is existential to you. Second, I'm very happy as well to see so many of my African friends, largely hurt as well by the same phenomenon and the climate change and a lot of myers are here with us, as a lot of leaders expressing as well how much important is this agenda because their coast is being completely replaced, damaged by the impacts. And I'm happy to see as well some of our good European friends from Belgium, Luxembourg, Sicilia, etc. and an island impacted as well on the daily basis by the consequences of this agenda. This point is to say this is no more a small island agenda, this is a true global agenda.
You were the frontrunner. You were the first one to warn the rest of the world. But today, when we speak about the vulnerability of our countries, when we speak about the consequences of the climate change and the necessity to deal with the agenda of climate, biodiversity and oceans, it's for all of us. And this morning, few hours ago before joining New York, I was in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, a French overseas territories.

And let me tell you that Miquelon is becoming the first French town whose inhabitants must be relocated because of rising sea level. And we are investing dozens millions euro to relocate 600 inhabitants because the village in 10, 15, 20 years time will be damaged by precisely this phenomenon. This is not a potential threat, we know that. It's already there and it represents an existential risk for a growing number of countries. This is why your gathering is so important and this is why what you're doing here is so important.
