Intervenant 3
Good morning and welcome to today's workshop.  I'm really pleased to be here with the leadership of CAL FIRE, the Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety, the Office of Emergency Services and my fellow CPUC Commissioners.  And I wanted to thank all of the members of the public who are in attendance today.  In addition, I'd like to thank Tony Knoll and Steven Kleiber for the Commission for organizing this workshop today.  I am looking forward to hearing today's discussions and engaging in a dialogue on this critical aspect of utility operations, public safety and regulatory oversight.

As we have seen in the past few years, PSPS events can be an effective tool in mitigating wildfire risk.  But there is another side to the equation.  People living and working in higher fire threat areas depend on reliable power supply and are impacted by power outages, especially outages that last for multiple days or are repeated in multiple events.  And this is especially true for our most vulnerable population.  Low income customers, elderly, and disabled customers all have more challenges to overcome in adapting to power outages.
