Education Committee House of Commons
00:07 - 01:14
Speaker 7
Order, order. Can I welcome everybody to this oral evidence session of the Education Select Committee in the House of Commons. Can I welcome colleagues back from summer recess and welcome everybody to this first evidence session in our new inquiry in which we are scrutinizing the government's white paper entitled Every Child Achieving and Thriving. We are scrutinizing the white paper ahead of what we believe will be legislation coming forward later in the autumn or early in the new year. And we are also scrutinizing the white paper in light of some subsequent policy announcements that the new administration has been making over the summer as well.
So I'd like to thank our witnesses for joining us today and invite each of you briefly to introduce yourselves to us if that's okay. Actually, before I do that, I should just invite any declarations of interest from any members of the committee. Peter, I think you were wanting to make a declaration.
01:14 - 01:23
Speaker 9
Yes, Chair, can I declare that I'm the chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Schools, Learning and Assessment, the secretariat of which is the NEU, and we've just produced a report on votes at 16 which might be relevant today.
01:23 - 01:25
Speaker 5
Lovely, thank you.
